Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Maintenance Technician.  This role requires deep expertise in CNC machinery, Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS), and active participation in the Lean transformation of the maintenance department. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong mechanical and electrical background, capable of driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position will also be responsible for general building maintenance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs monthly preventative maintenance to ensure facility equipment are operating properly
  • Inspects and identifies equipment in need of repair
  • Maintains and orders inventory of maintenance supplies
  • Consults with facility maintenance leader on items that require more specialized repairs
  • Consults with machinists and inspectors to follow up with maintenance requests
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Manual & CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) and other production equipment.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS) & AM to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support Lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, TPM, and root cause analysis.
  • Support maintenance activities for entire Ladson Facility when needed, ensuring consistency and efficiency in operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills and Abilities:   

 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, with a focus on Manual & CNC machinery.
  • Familiarity with Lean tools and methodologies (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, SMED, TPM).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to perform general mechanical and repair tasks on machinery, equipment and building facilities
  • Ability to follow instructions from Maintenance Leader, Engineering and Plant Leader
  • Ability to perform diagnosis/repair on power and control circuits (24V, 120V, 240V, 480V).
  • Proven experience with Preventive Maintenance Systems and CMMS software such as API for scheduling and signing off maintenance tasks
  • Electrical maintenance knowledge utilizing a volt-ohmmeter
  • Ability to read/write/speak English
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Excellent time management skills

 

Special Requirements:

  • Candidate must be able to obtain a Hazardous Materials Certification

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years maintenance experience preferred

 

Physical Demands:    

  • Must be able to move/lift 50lbs as needed
  • Must be able to operate forklift/lift carts.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and walking
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, and crawl into awkward spaces.

 

Working Conditions: Works in a controlled climate. Occasional outdoor work required. Small amounts of machine noise. Works around hazardous chemicals. PPE required and provided by company.
