Summary:

The Relocation Project Manager will support activities related to the relocation of the SKF Calgary office and manufacturing floor. This role will work alongside many internal stakeholders and bridge the gap to coordinate with external contractors to prepare and execute the relocation. The role will include gathering requirements, creating schedules, and following up on action plans.

This is a contract position for 1 year, with a possible extension.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of the facility relocation project, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budget.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan, including scope, schedule, resources, risk management, and communication strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, IT, HR, EHS) to gather requirements and ensure a smooth transition for all departments.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and consultants, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate with the facility manager to oversee construction and renovation activities at the new site, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and SKF standards.
  • Track project progress and performance, providing regular updates to senior leadership and escalating issues as needed.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing potential delays, cost overruns, or operational disruptions.
  • Ensure proper decommissioning of the current facility, including asset disposition, lease termination, and site restoration.
  • Support the setup and commissioning of new equipment and infrastructure, ensuring operational readiness before go-live.
  • Facilitate change management and communication plans, helping employees adapt to the new environment and processes.
  • Conduct post-move evaluations, capturing lessons learned and ensuring all punch-list items are resolved.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including contracts, permits, schedules, and compliance records.

Office and Manufacturing Planning

 

  • Work with the manufacturing and process engineering departments to design lean manufacturing layout flows to optimize for workflow, safety, and future scalability.
  • Coordinate the procurement and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) to ensure readiness for both administrative and production functions.
  • Plan and oversee the transition of manufacturing operations, including equipment relocation, calibration, and validation to minimize downtime.
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning sessions to align office and production space requirements with business needs and employee experience.

 

Daily Operation

  • Perform all your activities in compliance with the SKF Code of Conduct, the group's EHS policy and Quality Management System,
  • Escalate deviations on Quality, Safety, Environment, by using the existing escalation system and participate to corrective actions when needed,
  • In support or at the request of your manager, you may be required to support the other activities of the company.

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to create and communicate schedules using standard tools (such as Microsoft Project, or Smart Sheets)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical layouts
  • Strong ability to use Microsoft excel for run calculations, budgets, and action plans.
  • Project management and coordination of stakeholders
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise construction, renovation of maintenance and expansion projects; including managing budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers and contractors
  • Skills that would be an asset, but not mandatory:
  • Understanding of the manufacturing business.
