Overview:
The MRO Project Development Engineer will manage and expand the Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) and Designated Engineering Representative (DER) processes for aerospace bearings. This role involves collaboration with internal and external teams to develop PMA and Alternate Part Solutions, supporting business development initiatives, enhancing supply chain efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement PMA Solutions: Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering teams to develop FAA-approved PMA and Alternate Part Solutions for bearings and components.
- Cost Analysis and Business Growth: Identify and analyze cost-saving opportunities through alternate material approvals and reliability enhancements.
- Supply Chain Forecasting: Use forecasting tools to track and analyze future alternate material usage and spending.
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure FAA-approved alternate parts are properly documented and incorporated into technical manuals and maintenance procedures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, supply chain, and inventory planning teams to address aircraft reliability issues.
- Financial Management: Lead financial aspects related to PMA & FAA DER RS projects, including cost analysis, budgeting, and supplier contract management.
- Project Management: Manage project timelines, milestones, and communication with DERs, suppliers, and FAA representatives.
- Performance Reporting: Build and present performance and savings reports to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Experience: 3+ years in supply chain, manufacturing, or aerospace industry; 5+ years with FAA regulations related to PMA, DER, or Alternate Part Solutions projects.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to interpret engineering documents and technical drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Regulatory Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of FAA regulations (e.g., FAA 14 CFR Part 21 Subpart K, AC 21-43, AC 43-18, FAA Orders 8110.42, 8120.22, 8110.37, 8110.3).
- Technical Tools: Experience with financial and business intelligence tools, aircraft maintenance information systems, and supply chain forecasting.
- Project Management: PMP certification preferred, familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Interpersonal Skills : Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
Key Competencies:
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of FAA PMA and DER processes.
- Project Management : Proven ability to manage complex projects.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to analyze large datasets and make informed business decisions.
- Technical Acumen: Familiarity with bearings or similar mechanical components in aviation applications.
