Summary:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-routine tasks to ensure repair quality standards are met. Performs the set-up, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assembles. Performs hand-set-ups for digital tests, recognizes failures and set-up problems, and determines need for appropriate verification. Operates programmable auto-testers, samplers, real time oscilloscopes, pulse generators, meters, power supplies, and special test fixtures. Prepare written reports and may take recommendations for procedural changes. May provide work leadership and/or train lower level employees. 

 

Key responsibilities:

·          Calibrates systems, diagnoses malfunctions, troubleshoots to board level and performs rework.

·          Tests and aligns a wide variety of standard, non-standard and newly introduced modules and or units with limited documentation.

·          Evaluates performance and reliability of beta, prototype or production releases.

·          Records data on test results and prepares proper documentation for verification of test results.

·          Create test procedures and associated test fixtures to verify functionality  and circuitry.

·          May assist in determining and recommending corrective engineering action such as writing engineering change orders.

·          In depth knowledge of digital and analog circuitry

·          Shipping domestic packages

·          Maintaining repair stock parts inventory

·          Responsible for setup/maintaining/maintenance of the SKF Universal Calibration Station (UCS).

 

Requirements: COMPUTER and SOFTWARE SKILLS:

Microsoft Office Products

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:                                              

Associate’s degree (A.S.) in electronics; 6 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combinations of educations and experience.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Ability to interact effectively with co-workers and ability to accept constructive criticism.  Must be a team player who performs well in a team environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:                                                

  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:                                                    

  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to appear for work on time; follow directions from a supervisor; and understand and follow work rules and procedures.  Ability to form boxes for packaging, ability to use the following tools: soldering iron, crimpers manual & electric, cutters, exacto knife, pliers, screwdrivers manual & battery operated, shaker knobs, oscillator, power supplies, meter, dvm test leads, scissors, desoldering tool & solder wick, scope probes, tweezers, oscilloscope, chemical mixing & spray cans, drills, micrometer, scribe, cleaning brushes, and strippers.

REASONING ABILITY:                                            

  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
