Position Summary:
This position is responsible for managing all supply chain activities for their assigned channel group, including direct material procurement for bearing manufacturing (e.g., balls, cages, rings). The role supports the development of processes within their area of responsibility. Key activities include forecasting, volume planning, inventory and service planning, manufacturing planning, and customer deliveries. The position works directly with cross-functional teams, purchasing, suppliers, and customer service to ensure efficient execution of all supply chain functions.
Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Establish excellent communication and relationships with internal and external partners (Purchasing, Suppliers, Customers, Sales).
- Coordinate procurement activities for specific direct materials used in bearing manufacturing, including reviewing vendor sequence lists and Material Requirement Plans (MRP) to align purchase orders with inventory needs.
- Contact vendors to expedite orders or place future orders on hold to optimize on-site inventory levels.
- Email sequence lists detailing current and upcoming orders to vendors; negotiate changes to orders and delivery deadlines based on planning schedules and forecasts.
- Address inquiries from financial personnel regarding invoicing and payment discrepancies; resolve customs-related questions for foreign orders.
- Analyze delivery timeliness and adjust procurement plans; accordingly, resolve issues with orders rejected by Basware purchasing software or materials management systems.
- Review and correct purchase orders in XA, manually keying in missing data to override receipt exceptions.
- Work closely with Purchasing and Suppliers to address performance issues and support the development and onboarding of new suppliers.
- Manage inventory levels for assigned channel group, including final variants and channel stock.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with Sales to communicate customer commitments based on material and capacity analysis.
- Perform volume and inventory planning based on forecast, orderbook, material, and capacity; review, expedite, cancel, and defer Manufacturing Orders as needed.
- Maintain the customer orderbook, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, backlog, production status, and supplier deliveries.
- Monitor and manage Broken Promise and Availability Failures metrics within the channel group.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and communicate deviations from the production schedule that may impact customer deliveries.
- Maintain close communication with the warehouse to resolve issues such as rush orders, stock discrepancies, obsolete stock, and quality holds.
- Manage planning parameters in DOH, XA, and other Common Systems applications.
- Champion organizational initiatives and participate in improvement and development projects.
- Monitor and publish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to inventory, service, and availability.
- Continuously improving existing processes and contribute to the development of new ones.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- Proficient in materials planning and scheduling systems.
- 3 - 5 years of previous Supply Chain/Buying/Production Planning experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and credibly
- Strong computer Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Self-starting individual who possesses resiliency and adaptability to solve problems
- Ability to discern priorities and remain organized as business needs evolve
- Data analytical, Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and possess the courage to intervene
- Preferred experience with XA & Power BI
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or related field. APICS certification or five (5) years experience in production planning. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Must be computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel and proficient in materials planning and scheduling systems.
