Position Summary: The EHS Coordinator position is a multi-functional role responsible to support  our Environmental, Health and Safety Management System and coordinating energy related activities and management systems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a Zero Accident culture through effective support of Safety and Environmental programs and processes.
  • Participation and/or responsible for various projects related to environmental, health and safety according to ISO 14001 and 45001 standards including supporting the maintenance of a Zero Accident culture through implementation and adherence of Safety and Environmental programs and processes, and policies.
  • Maintain compliance with SKF’s Group Policy on Environment, Health, and Safety
  • Monitoring of the Energy Management System according to ISO 50001:2018
  • Active participation in EHS and energy audits
  • Active participation in site’s energy and decarbonization committee
  • Responsible for tracking energy usage and working with Plant Controller for critical KPIs
  • Product usage tracking, hazardous waste inspections, coordination of hazardous waste disposition and disposal
  • Responsible for environmental reporting and regulatory permits for wastewater, air permits, etc.
  • Maintain appropriate and accurate environmental and other records; complete monthly reporting in SKF systems
  • Contribution to continuous improvement of the management system, focusing on energy reduction and decarbonization.
  • Schedule and maintain regulatory inspections i.e. emergency riser, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in all areas of EH&S and document those actions.
  • Support the achievement and maintenance of the required EH&S certifications including ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, 50001(energy).
  • Assists with conducting audits/inspections of EH&S programs to ensure they are functioning.
  • Identify unsafe conditions/actions within the plant and recommend corrective measures.
  • Works with team to complete effective incident and accident investigations and ensure that all documentation is maintained in SKF systems.
  • Helps to define and deliver all required safety training, (i.e. fork truck, lockout tagout, hoist/cranes etc.) for both new hires and existing workforce.
  • Assist inspection personnel from outside insurance carriers (Willis Watson & Towers) and regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, D.E.E.P, Labor Dept. etc)
  • Assist with managing the contractor/visitor safety program and ensure compliance.
  • Provide input and help facilitate EH&S related capital investments projects.
  • Participate on continuous improvement project teams.
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance supervisor as needed.
  • Must consistently work toward a record of performance demonstrating strong leadership skills and be “result” oriented, with highly effective interpersonal skills.
  • Must consistently work toward and demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and organizational skills.
  • Assure confidentiality of proprietary or sensitive information.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainable environmental resource management or similar science/engineering, EHS or an equivalent related field
  • Three years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of ISO 50001 (energy) and ISO 14001 (environmental) regulatory standards; knowledge of ISO 45001 a plus
  • Familiar with OSHA, NFPA, Ansi, EPA, RCRA standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), experience with SharePoint a plus
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written; detail oriented
  • Robust project management skills
  • Self-motivated, analytical and mechanical/mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to work within and facilitate a team environment
  • Ability to use sound, prudent and independent judgment
  • Ability to foster and develop a cooperative work environment; ability to influence without direct reporting responsibilities
  • Ability to obtain/maintain required RCRA, OSHA and other EHS compliance certifications
  • Some travel may be required
